Some people are newer to the game as a whole or haven't played in so long they don't remember certain mechanical things of that nature. Maybe try not being a jerk to someone who didn't know this was something that can happen.

I'm a little confused, you don't think damage should be split between several targets but blues can hurt other blues or guild members can hurt other guild members? I think server wars would be the better thing to suggest. This type of thing would force people to not play and eventually quit completely. Server wars, at least, doesn't count so it wouldn't matter since you know you'd start where you left off.
