Good response. Appreciate it.
My comments towards improving the game were directed solely at PvP. I've said countless times that the PvM on this server is incredible... it's, without question, what keeps this shard going. That being said, it doesn't mean that significant changes for PvP...
Why does there seem to be such a fear to improve this game? There aren't many games out there like this one, and this server is the best of what's left. Why not make it great?
This suggestion isn't even one that changes the way things are. I've made those suggestion threads, and have...
... but it doesn't need to be monitored. It would function like anything else in UOF right now: if players obtain proof of a player exploiting the system, they'll forward said proof to a moderator for appropriate action.
But that's exactly my point: if it's 5v1, all damage dealt by the 1 counts towards his individual numbers, while the damage dealt by the 5 is essentially split among them. I know that, if there were incentives, I'd happily run around and solo PvP, knowing that whatever damage I'm dealing...
Short answer: define exploit and ban the exploiters.
If smart members of the playerbase sat down and tried to come up with solutions for this, they'd be able to in short time. It's not difficult.
Because damage done gives the solo player an incentive to participate in structured PvP. Otherwise, there's no reason for casual players to pretend that they'll be effective against the big guilds.
I disagree completely. In all actuality, it would benefit the individual over the group. In a 5v1 "fight", each person in the group of 5 stands to deal less individual damage than the solo player. A solo player, running around with a war hammer, could total some pretty significant damage...
I don't agree. It's a smart playerbase... they'd be able to come up with reasonable parameters.
But if two guys were sitting on the outskirts of town, hitting each other with wands for hours, with absolutely no interest in killing each other, a reasonable person would believe that they were...
I mean, absolutely. Not against that at all. If such rewards were attached to damage done in militias over a period of time, the participation would greatly increase.
Again, the structure of this would be defined to prevent some of these clear exploits. For example, it wouldn't work with knives, daggers, clubs, wands, etc. It wouldn't work in houses. Hell, you could even put a cap on the experience gained against one player during that span. Whatever the...
So, help me with this.
Players know that their account will be deleted if they exploit this system. The numbers will easily show if a player is exploiting the system. Conditions can be established (ex: doesn't count damage done in houses) to help keep the system honest. Lastly, players can...
Oh, absolutely not. It's definitely the truth, at least in my life. It doesn't mean I enjoy UOF any less, or want that aspect of it changed. The risk is what makes UO what it is.
Believe me, I understand that a portion of the hardcore UOFers love cheating, hence the number of bans in the past.
If the punishment were a permanent ban, and it greatly improved the structured PvP on this shard, it would be well worth it.
I don't disagree, and - like anything else good in this world - some will try. It's my opinion that a severe consequence for that abuse (permanent ban) and an active player base will weed those players out and mitigate most of that abuse.
At worst, a few players successfully cheat the system...
I understand that "Real" PvPers feel the need to shred every PvP-based suggestion, but I encourage them to take a step back. "Real" PvPers benefit from this suggestion the most.
This suggestion provides "Real" PvPers with the only two things that matter: more (and easier) targets to kill, and...
Wait, what? I think you missed the overall point here. (Not being a dick. I think my point was missed.)
I'm not talking about PvM. I have no problem with PvM. I don't care about dying in PvM. I have no issue with the red vs blue relationship on UOF (although I do think reds have it way...
