Edited. (Although the best PvPers on UOF are tamers, so there's that.)
So please, throw ideas out there. If you aren't going to separate stun and alchy, what kind of mage build diversity is possible? You'd have to buff skills that create equal build(s) to stun/alchy. I'd love to hear some.
... what? He posts that (starting it off with the condescending "You obviously don't really PvP" and finishing with "Real pvpers don't need incentives"), and my response was completely reasonable. I mean, if someone is condescending to someone else on the basis of a suggestion, and they take...
I really appreciate that members of the staff have been reasonable, despite the amount of negativity here. Not only that, but Swayze even proposed his own idea to further incentivize militias. Clearly he didn't feel that my intentions here were as out-of-line as some are making it out to be...
Check back. Read through. You want to talk about "insulting groups of players for their play style" and "uttering antagonizing or childish taunts"? I don't start that nonsense, but I'm not going to sit back when it's clearly accepted here. And, no, I don't just insinuate cheating. Cheating...
Numbers are an advantage, of course, but there are absolutely things that can be implemented to provide incentive for all players, which would change that narrative completely (and for the better). And claiming that "UO isn't for you" if you don't want to participate in a PvP structure as a...
And I also love this. Degrade and condescend members of the forum for making theads and having ideas that you make the choice to read, then call for the moderators to close those threads. It's such a common ploy on the forums: have the "PvP Elite" flame a poster until a thread is locked...
I don't need to learn how to rely on expl pots and stun punch for kills on UOF... I'm good. It's a diluted, bastardized version of UO PvP, and a number of veteran players have come here and made the same observation.
You know, when UOF PvP continued to "evolve" and tamers dominated the field...
... what does that even mean? Like the trashy PKs here, who attack PvM chars on sight, would see me on a PvM char and... attack... me... harder? That may have been the worst middle school nonsense insult I've read on the UOF forums, which is pretty amazing.
Nah. I'll happily post wherever. Unless you're 12, it seems strange that you (apparently) don't have the power to control what you read and/or respond to. You'd think, if this stuff bothered you, you just... wouldn't... click? (You might want to talk to someone about that.)
How ridiculous... and you're completely wrong.
I'm clearly talking about structured PvP. On UOF, it caters to groups. That wasn't always the case: there used to be plenty of solo players (and fights) in O/C, and even factions boasted more for solo PvP. There are also clear and obvious ways...
... right. And so, in a game that changes frequently, and with tons of skills, it would be wise to constantly search for balance and improvement over what's currently out there. A universal assist program would be a great start. Not forcing someone to stun and throw pots in mage 1v1 would be...
Huh? I have no problem adapting. I made a build that has been relatively successful. I just have no incentive, nor interest, in getting ganked by groups as a solo player. Having an incentive for solo players to participate would greatly benefit UOF. I mean, I've only said this over and over...
I tend to create one thread per topic or idea and remain in that thread. It seems strange that you, who clearly doesn't want to read this "constant nagging", would remain "in these threads" reading "posts and posts" about the "same thing". Exercise some free will and ignore these threads then?
Strange... Peav essentially labeled alchy/stun the meta mage build, and others have outright called it that. Again, just because some guy runs different skills with relative success doesn't mean that a meta build doesn't exist.
Again, I'm not worried about it. I'll keep playing with my tamer...
Or, they don't like PvP HERE. You keep ignoring that. A lot of players come here and see things in PvP that they don't like, therefore there's no incentive in getting ganked in PvP when they can just make cash PvMing.
Second paragraph: no one said that.
Negative. I'm suggesting that all games, and especially games such as this, should be constantly seeking balance between builds. If one build emerges as the clear-cut best, tweaks should be tried to balance that build out with others. Pretty much all games do this.
I'm actually exploring a three-way guild war thing with casual players. The issue is that those players don't have an incentive right now anyway, so the interest would be minimal.
I just don't understand why a member of the "PvP Elite" wouldn't want more (easy) targets to kill.
Ha. Which is a joke and you know it. Groups need their precast hanks.
You seem to hate the notion of "balancing". If, during testing, it was seen that dexers were dominating, they too could be tweaked to fall in line with other builds.
Or, you know, mages could just learn to adapt.
And in the VERY NEXT PARAGRAPH, I explained EXACTLY WHAT THAT PROBLEM IS. Ridiculous.
Aside from the condescending tone in the last line, I liked this post.
I love the whole "adaption" thing. Really, people believe in adaption when the current meta fits their playstyle. I remember the...
