The relative ease of obtaining a meta pet is offset by the risk of it being stolen, whereas the difficulty of grinding a tali is offset by the security of it being bound. The way it is now is balanced.
I don't think it was intentionally axed because I saw Eppy say something about trying to figure out why it changed and fix it... Really hope it can be fixed, that was the only reason I bought my crystal bench and saved gargoyle runes for so long.
Yeah, same. So many people just buy maxed-out pets and can lay waste to everything with zero effort... talis are the one thing you really have to work to accomplish yourself and I like it that way.
But it might be nice if you could transfer your tali to another of your own characters one time...
Welcome! Skill gain is pretty fast here with the exception of taming. Never noticed whether it slows down as it rises. Resist isn't too bad to raise, and you can use skill scrolls if needed. Idocs have some unique features here, such as the house loot dropping on mobs, which is a newish thing...
Yeah, I kept it to the three main perspectives I was hearing people express. But feel free to write in whatever you would have voted for if it had been an option.
For my part, I voted for "liked the ettins" although I did think somewhat stronger mobs would have been more ideal. Wish we could...
Opinions are pretty divided, actually: https://www.uoforum.com/threads/idoc-changes-are-awful.97026/
I for one stopped doing idocs altogether because of the new mobs.
I've never gotten anything from crystals, champs, MOTM, RDAs or arch... I bought my doublestrike and tread from $/power for 7 and 5 mil respectively (for the prices at the time these were kinda friend discounts). My long-stabled meta has a nox relic that a friend sold me for 400k. It'll probably...
It doesn't actually benefit smaller guilds and single players. It's just creating a new group that can control IDOCs while effectively barring others from participating, so it's the exact same dynamic we had before. We had a chance to make IDOCs something that truly anyone could join, and this...
The last IDOC I was at you were talking about being on a character with a maxed defense tali and swampy, no?
Also, I took this discussion out of your thread -- stay out of mine.
Yeah, I get your window argument -- the chaos, the danger, and the time it takes to kill these things can open an opportunity to get lucky.
What I'm arguing is that it opens even more opportunities to die, and then it's sort of a moot point who's controlling the IDOC because you're not getting...
Doesn't really matter how big the window is if you're dead the whole time. If "minimal requirement" and "anyone can join" are the goal, ettins accomplished that goal much better.
I don't think that is the goal, though. The goal with recent changes seems to be making everything BIGGER! TOUGHER...
Now that is untrue. They're not accessible to "anyone," they're only accessible to people who can fight off a pack of balrons, dragons, vampires and pk zergs at the same time.
The last few I tried I either got insta-killed by mobs or died to pks within a minute. With the ettins I could at...
Kird requested that people who don't like the IDOC changes "stay out of his thread" so I'm making a new one (with a poll) because Shane said staff wants feedback on these changes.
Vote here if you're not on board with turning IDOCs into champs where you need a maxed-out defense tali or level 7...
Okay, I really REALLY hate the new idoc mobs. It's bad enough trying to survive packs of reds on a pvm character without also having to deal with mobs that can one-shot you. Please either go back to ettins or get rid of this shit altogether and just have normal idocs.
