Yes, but not just any mages! I'm talking about those who have attained such a pinnacle of greatness (in their own minds) that if they die or struggle to kill someone it means the mechanics must be broken.
Ordinary laws of UO reality such as "git gud" and "mages are stronger in group fights...
I think it goes something like this:
Without the zerg constantly beating them down anymore, a small handful of supposedly leet pvpers needed a new excuse for why they don't necessarily survive every encounter. After all, were they not PVP GODS??! How could a god possibly die, ever!? Dexxers...
I was referring to your personal attacks on Girana. Constructive critique of mechanics changes is not toxic.
I've never even heard of you, so I'm not sure why you think you know anything about how I play. But based on what you've written here, I get the impression that the only dexxer you've...
Cups, take your toxicity elsewhere. Girana actually has better insights about pvp than most pvpers because he's more objective and considers the shard population as a whole.
A small increase is irrelevant if you're already dead by the time the bandage hits.
Yes. If the goal is to 'balance' (lol) pvp, the change should affect pvp only.
I don't care what OSI or other servers have and don't see how that's even relevant to the conversation. Some of us choose to play on UOF because we like the mechanics here. Why should UOF turn itself into OSI or H y b r i d or whatever this handful of perpetually disaffected pvpers supposedly...
That would be the logical thing to do IF this change was actually about improving consensual pvp balance, and not just about making it easier to pk pvmers and noobs so a tiny handful of supposedly leet pvpers don't get their egos bruised.
Per eppy in chat tonight, bandages were made 2 seconds slower on test. He said if no one complains this change will go live. Apparently this is not a troll? Anyway, please vote.
It's true that the topic had already been covered extensively and this whole fiasco could have been easily avoided, but I think Eppy deserves credit both for being against the nerf in the first place and for doing what he can to find a workable compromise now. Maybe if people don't nitpick him...
You think so? I just read that thread (thanks for the link btw) and was struck by how many people weren't against it and thought the whole complaint was silly. Even Shane pointed out that the tali was a good balance to meta tamers being too OP.
A few quotes:
Where did he say this exactly? Is there a post you can link to or quote?
There really isn't much in this game that doesn't indirectly affect pvp in some way. I find it odd that he would promise something that was impossible to deliver, given how the defense tali was designed to work. Did he...
Right, and like I was saying, there was finally a group that "did something about it" and got together the resources, the knowledge, the initiative, the commitment and the numbers to give you some competition and the "big fights" everyone always says they want. And literally the next day that...
Girana should be the number 1 pvp consultant, not some guy who can't even understand how turning tali owners into grief magnets puts them at a disadvantage while giving a big advantage to griefers.
This is a very direct "pvp" advantage because it involves the griefer deliberately flagging the...
It's interesting how werkt had RDAs on lock for years and nothing was done, but literally the day after another guild got the scripts, the books and two former werkt expert RDA trackers and were set up to finally give them some competition, *poof* out of the blue it's goodbye RDA tracking.
The irony is that disabling it actually allows for more direct "pvp" advantage than it ever had before, it's just the people who didn't put in any work to make a tali who now get the advantage, and the people who did are at a disadvantage.
Anyone with half a brain knew that this would happen...
Yeah, how stupid for players to trust that items in a game that they spent thousands of hours and/or dollars on will continue to do what they have done for years. The fools! Guess you showed them!
Next up: the 120 tame and level 7 meta raffle has now been changed to 105 carpentry and a pet...
The irony here is that this change only came about because a handful of people were unwilling/unable to adapt for the several years that talismans have been in place, and just cried about it rather than adapting and making their own tali.
Top ten reasons why this change is a bad idea. (The swampy nerf and the RDA tracking nerf are also bad ideas but I'm sure those will get their own threads soon enough.)
1. It amounts to a bait and switch.
2. It makes people lose confidence in staff's ability to make sound decisions or...
