Understanding Armour

This must be explained somewhere but I can't find it.

Is there a website that explains what armour does what. Looking on vendors in game I can see various armour made by different people saying invulnerable and various other things but I don't know what it all means. When I played OSI UO it was described as being resistant to various attacks but I don't think that's the case here...may be wrong?
