And the RP Community Presents A ROLE-PLAY COMMUNITY QUEST-EVENT FIRST, LET US THANK YOU!! We asked the community to donate to the funds required to build Hailstone Castle in another thread you can see HERE and people were quick to donate and help us get to our goal of 1,203,000 gold! To some, this may be a paltry amount worthy of labeling shameful. To others, who did not miss the point, it is not about the gold but about the appreciation from the community that shows how much they want to see us keep growing and succeeding and they must get something out of it in return! This is what makes UO:Forever the best freeshard in existence; the community! And because the community is willing to help us with raising funds for projects like this, it gives us the time needed to create events like the one you're about to see! Thank you ALL who donated and supported us this far... all of the kind PM's and great interactions we have with people; you guys make it worth it and keep us going! When the Quest is finished, Hailstone Castle will be open to the public and we invite everyone to come visit us for some RP, a skirmish or to discuss events and other in-game matters! Expect to see lots of events hosted here by the Knight's Guild and many more! If you have an idea for an event that this place could host, please contact me once the walls are built and this Quest is complete and we'll arrange the details! Guild-Wars, Auctions, Duels, Gatherings, RP-Scenario Events and More! QUEST PREFACE War waged in the deep forests South of Yew, beyond the Crossroads where few but Orcs and Knights resided, only to ensue the bloodshed between these two races that was as old as Sosaria itself. Farmers and townsfolk all over Britannia had heard of the Orcish raiders. They had seen the tragedy bestowed upon the victims of these horrific creatures as widows, orphans and maimed souls sought shelter in other towns, far from the nightmare they once called home near Yew. It was when the Knight's Guild was about to request funds yet again, from the Royal Bank, expecting another decline, that Sir. got the idea to go to cut out the middle-man and go straight to the people who were being afflicted by the orcish raiding parties. It was there that he would find solution to the challenge of funding a war, as the people gladly received the Knights, town to town, as they raised funds for their next big move in the war efforts... They would build a castle in an extremely strategic location using the terrain and mountainside to their advantage as a tactical threshold to push the orcs back into the forests and scatter their armies for the upper hand. Sir. contracted the best architects their money could buy to design a fortress that would withstand an orcish army at their door and yet give enough leverage from their position on the mountainside to unleash waves of knights from the innards of the massive keep. The gold was in place, and now the materials had to be purchased. The Knights contacted three separate material distributors who agreed they would supply and deliver the necessary building materials to the requested location. However, they would need extra protection for the journey as this was a very large load and at high risk for high-way robbery. Bandits, Orcs, villains of all nature roamed the lands between these towns and Hailstone Castle. Hell, it's even hard to trust a mercenary in these parts when war is so abundant and soldiers are in need... Logistics were set in place and the arrangements were set. Knights were sent to the three separate towns that their shipments would be coming from with orders to guard the caravans and get them to the construction site at all costs. Extra help was provided by allies and friends of both the Knights and the merchants providing the building materials... All they had to do now was deliver the building materials to the construction site - safely... TO BE CONTINUED... (NEW) QUEST RESULTS The date for the delivery to be made had finally arrived and caravan leaders prepared their shipments. Some gathered their guardsmen, others hired mercenaries and some reached out through the world of alliances seeking protection from others who would uphold the light and contribute to the war for the human race any way they could. The Yew Militia had recently been reinstated and caught wind of the delivery being made in their backyard and even offered their services. People from all over were prepared to get the cargo to the construction site of Hailstone Castle, for it was all that the people of these orc plagued lands had in hopes of pushing the orcish raiders back into the deep forests and mountain passes, away from their families and homes. And so they began their journey from their respective towns that each caravan had called home. One caravan left from Trinsic, another left from Cove and the third left from Minoc. The journey was long and arduous for the caravans, and facing all odds, the caravans reached the castle successfully, but not without a fight. Many materials were lost as multiple caravans were destroyed as hordes of Orcs, Undead, Cultists and even a mad Sorceress burst from the forest as the caravans approached the construction site. Good and Evil fell that day on a bloodsoaked battlefield between the human citadel and the orc fortress that will be forever known as "The Bloodgulch", the land that will continue to soak up the blood of a war that will never end between the orcs and humans... And whoever else gets in between them! Below are the accounts reported from those who served so valiantly to protect the caravans and ensure that they and their cargo reached their final destination... This is only another small step in a never-ending war! Expect more events that will dictate the direction of our community RP story as we play these scenarios out to see what happens next! Thank you all for reading and supporting what we do! Huzzah! See reply posts for pics, video and more coverage from those who participated! THE EVENT SETUP: 1. The Knights raised money for a castle from the community to better fight the Orcs in their war. 2. The Knights purchased building materials from 3 separate suppliers in 3 different towns. 3. Each merchant/supplier is a different RP Community guild (SMG, Trin and ETC) 4. Each merchant must lead a caravan (3 packhorses) from their hometown on foot to Hailstone Castle simultaneously. 5. The Orcs have caught wind of this shipment and will try to stop it. 6. One caravan will have the "winning payload" assigned to it before the event starts. 7. The castle can only be constructed if the winning payload makes it to the construction site. 8. Nobody knows who has the winning payload - neither side. 9. The Orcs know which towns the caravans are leaving from and where their destination is located, that is all they know. 10. The Orcs start at the Yew Orc Fort and will be given a window of time to begin scouting for the caravans and stop them once they have left their towns. RULES: 1. No travel-magic (recall/moongates) are to be used during this event. 2. Merchants leading caravans must walk the entire way - you can not run (you are allowed to stealth) - but you do not have to stop nor follow roads. 3. If the packhorses are killed that caravan has failed. If all 3 fail the event will reset and attempted at another date. 4. Players may heal/cure/aid the packhorses in any way necessary to keep them alive. 5. If merchants die, they must stand still until resurrected before moving the caravan any further. 6. Anything else goes.
