Q: "Where is $playername?"
A: "$playername is located at # # n/s, # # w/e"
Q: 'Dobby go distract that Dragon.'
Emote: *Dobby covers you in Ketchup*
A: Mee thinks you can do it yourself better now!'
Q: Dobby, fetch me some fertile dirt for my plants.
A: Dobby makes the best fertile dirt.
I just might have to keep this up until the server comes back!
Q: Dobby, are there any thieves or perma blue near me?
A: Yes! Dobby is looking at one right now! [players name] is perma blue or just stole from [players name].
Q: Dobby, are there any reds near by?
A: Dobby is sensing 5 reds aproaching!
Make him that you can level him up so he can help us dexxers kill mobs, or heal us i know he must have healing powers.
Q: Dobby I'm out of reagents, can you get me to the bank?
A: Dobby thinks he might have one gate to bank, for [x] amount of gold.
Yes, a real one. But I still like the fertile dirt idea too.
Q: What is Dobby's favorite food?
A: Oh! Dobby loves [insert food] and for more Dobby may tell of a hidden chest of treasure!
Then you proceed to feed him, his favorite food for the moment. You need to keep asking as the food changes until he finally gives up the location of a chest in some dungeon guarded by evil Dobby spawn. Kill them all to get the key and open the chest! Fun little quest that you can maybe run once a day or something. This can also help build loyalty to you.
I like these ideas. I especially like the idea of being able to spawn an RDA so a guild can plan the event when it's possible. Only with rare type items. I wouldn't take out the RDA's currently in game. I would just add these as an option. Also, I don't think I would want to see the npc's used in pvp either though. Make it so they wouldn't attack a player, but they would defend themselves if a player attacked one.
Dobby and I chatting in my house. Someone getting noisy and get on to my door steps.
"Dobby, protect the house"
"You shall not harm lady macbeth!"
Dobby instantly wacks the intruder to death.
What a good house elf
Obviously hes not going to be like that... I mean you literally cannot even imagine how off you are on this one, no offense.
He will give advice on certain things, and won't be precise, and sometimes may be wrong. It is something that will have CONSTANT additions going on for years to come.
The last thing we want is an in game wikipedia that answers everything (which is what 90% of pages are about). We don't want people doing this, however he will have valuable information which is where his worth lies.
We have new players joining weekly, and has been that way for over a year. We have vastly out worked, out marketed and out performed in quality every server in the last 2 years.
New players are ALWAYS the number one priority, however you need to keep those who have been here for awhile interested too, and something like this, when they see those veterans with the tameable, they will ask questions and want it. What this does is inspire new players, and give them something more to strive for than a castle, and a meta pet.
It's something more, something different, and ultimately... something unique.
KEEP IT ON TOPIC, STICK TO THE Q/A FORMAT.
Q: dobby, I wanna cook some human bacons, can you help?
A: dobby do not like human flesh but dobby is a good house elf. Dobby will make a fire for lady macbeth.
pls add another one creature ... robot ed-209
Q: "Do we want to kill this player today?
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
These are all good ideas -- give people a reason to venture out into the wild/use lesser known skills.
What if Dobby could remember things for you as well? Think of Siri, but for UO =)
Dobby, in 2 hours, remind me that the auction is starting
*2 hours later*
The auction is about to begin!
or, lets say you're out slaying vile beasts, and you come across a great spawn point but have no magery to mark a rune:
Dobby, mark this rune for me
Or, added to that:
"Dobby, help me find my way to Brit Bank" and off Dobby goes, better keep up!
Q: Dobby what is this?
A: A silver blah blah blah
He is pure magic after all and should be able to detect the properties of an item. To keep it from being too over used he can do it X amount of times in a 24 hour period.
Q: Dobby what is this?
A: Dobby needs to recover me magik
Q: Dobby is there a paragon nearby?
A: I sense a strong presence in X direction.
I would restrict this to a certain tile radius to give non Dobby owners a chance to find them before they are farmed.
Q: Dobby what Ore or wood is here?
A: I sense X ore or Y wood
for pinpoint specific resources for BODs or whatever.
Add to this one: also Auto Ban the non listed friend/co-owner/owner account from sneaking in the house. (Just my personal wishful thinking)
I want to train mine to do this.
That is a good point. I think your right there on the new player focus. As vets I believe we all know this game all too well.
P.s When did you put a shirt on? Have I really been off the forums that long?!?!?!
