does poisoning affect the poison output of Blade Spirits?

Hi. I'm relatively new on this shard and i was wondering why i'm not able to poison drinks. I've tried poisoning blades and food and it works. But when i try to poison a pitcher/a mug or a bottle, it says I'm only able to poison foods, bladed weapons or drinks. I appreciate any help :)
