Dexxers

Hello.
First of all, I don't complain about the gameplay here, I think it's very balanced as it is. I'm not an expert anyway so why the fuck should I judge.
However, isn't the dexxer a bit too simple?

Whenever I show this game to someone, they get bored at seeing their character just playing alone swinging its weapon, so they quit it calling it "boring, "static".

Dexxer are very strong, I'm not talking about that, good dmg etc, don't get me wrong
But, come on, a dexxer player only has to target the enemy and follow up. Okay... we have the explo pots, that well timed greater heal, debuffs etc but overall it seems too simple compared to a mage for example. The mage is very complex to me. Oh well fuck, I play with lag maybe thats why. nvm I suck lol

So what can we do?
Creating a book similar to the spellbook, a sort of "tactic book", a mix up of chivarly and "bull"shido (bushido) skills,
along with some special shit, in all of this lowering the base dmg ofc, and empower it with the spells. So, instead of hitting and waiting for the 30-40 hit, one has to use the spells correctly otherwise the base dmg will be low.
Like "monks" type of warrior in rpg's that use their "ki" or "energy", "mana" is equivalent to "chi" "ki" "qi" so I think it can fit, a mana-filled hits. Or sometimes, even stamina can be used as they have more of it.
Along with that, I was thinking about an active parry. Like, you need to click the parry hotkey in the right time as the swing comes and you have that chance to parry, I think all of this can really improve the game SKILL-wise, I mean as a Skill Based gaming. Because as I said, it's well balanced as it is. Maybe my mentality is too "complex", even if I'm a casual gamer I like really put myself into 100% and try my best with difficult things.

It's a '97 game and you all grew up with this, okay, maybe I'm just out of place, and I'm sorry if the idea sounds stupid to you, I understand the nostalgia. I believe the gameplay is great, I'm not saying "omfg fuck dexxer" bla bla nah they're fine, just not my conception of playing, I tried to use them, I know you all dexxer pro can fk me anyway so skills matter, but I switched to the mage because I wanted that challenge that I haven't felt with dexxer, that's all. I suck with mages, so don't flame me, I know already, I am new and I'm not good, but I don't care, if I die I know I have more understating and I can improve. Even if I get trash talked by funny Dexxers that only need to click two buttons and follow me, but whatever I just smile to them :) (it's my fault at being unexperienced after all)

Thanks for listening.

Doesn't do anything about how one dimensional they are.

Even with weapon specials they aren't that hard to play. Without them it's mindless.

They are somewhat simple yes... but, a good (not average) mage owns them every time. That's the trade off!

I think that widely depends upon the situation that the 1v1 is happening in. In pits, dungeon, or open world? On a ship/seas? In many of these, a good dexxor will win in others its a toss up. There are very few situations that the mage wins automatically because of templates.

I don't agree with this at all in most every case. I guess if you are talking about a plain dexxer without magery it could be true in a few instances (pits and group fights mostly), but with magery included in the template a dexxer can beat a good, or even great mage in every single circumstance.

Honestly the skills like bushido, ninjitsu, and chivalry along with the weapon skill and additional weapons added in made the Dexxer pvp much more fun and complex.

It gets a lot of hate because uo turned to more item based pvp later on. But they actually made the dexxing pvp way more intricate and fun.

But i doubt they would ever implement anything close to that here. Honestly though a moving shot or weapon ability with the bow would be nice.

I'm against adding additional weapon abilities, it will make dexers op as fuck, and I'm a dexer

but for variety I'd be ok with adding more of the new-age weapons just for visiual/sound novelty and maybe some new weapons besides katana would be worthwhile

Well to be fair there was a lot of additions in templates and spells etc. So dexxers werent the be all end all pvp base. It just made Dexxer pvp more intricate, challenging and fun.

I get it for here. But still think archers could use a moving shot or something comparable to the concision blow and paralyzing ability.

I think Dexxers in pvp are tough, and not boring, I struggle with a macer/mage 1v1 when on a mage. I've been hit for 60+ damage in one hit, it isn't fun. Maybe there should be a town where no magic can be cast, we go back to order/chaos shields. Whoever runs out of bandages dies!

the no magic in town phase back on OSI is basically what spawned the whole concept of dexers. town fights were actually super fun with no magic IMO, turned into huge battle royale with everyone in their invuln plate charging into the melee or archers on the tops of buildings sniping, etc

was a different kind of fun compared to insta dying to 2 mages mana dumping you

Yeah, I kind of mentioned it with sarcasm, but it would be very interesting. If there was a militia cap point in a no magery town, that would be really fun and would change up strategy and character builds.

@account51. I was just stating that pvp with dexxers became a lot better than older uo. Have you ever played the newer versions?

I feel like many havent here. Or more would understand what i am talking about. And all these abilities used mana so you had to balance your stats appropriately. I could be wrong though. Either way. Archers need some love.

it'd be neat to have maybe even just 1 no-magic town like Jhelom or something, fighters only! and make some sort of militia objective there to bring people in - maybe nobody would bother going there or maybe it would be fun
