The edit button and I were tight.

Man, GimpCent would be absolutely c r u s h e d to find out the edit feature has been taken out to pasture when posting anywhere but in threads of your creation.

Nightbot won't let you type in all caps in Disco...what is going on.

These are dark times for the keyboard warriors.

I literally thought I was going blind regarding the edit button. @Shane @Adam @halygon where has our much loved edit button gone?

I would need to check with Shane to see if this was intentional or not. When we moved forums, we used the latest xenforo software and we had to do the configuration for security over again - some things changed.

On the other hand, us mods could still see what you posted originally - even after you edited it so its not like you could hide anything. In fact it was pretty entertaining to see how some people would edit their post 3-4 times. Honestly I'd rather you guys have access to the Delete button instead of the Edit button.

Heres a basic outline of what i propose(for anyone still reading):

[factionscore

Rewards(point values subject to change):

Blessed rare sandals 1000 points
Blessed rare quiver 2000 points
Blessed cloth rare hues – 500 points a yard
1000 bottles – 50 points
3k each reg – 500 points
Blessed rare deco shield – 3000 points
Blessed rare deco staff 2000 points
Gheal wands 1 charges, 25points
Lightening wand 3 charge, 20points
Fancy mount 1: 3000 points
Fancy mount 2: 4000 points
Fancy mount 3(fanciest): 5000 points
Title Scroll(“PVP Master”): 2000 points
Title Scroll(“PVP Grandmaster”): 3000 points
Title Scroll(“Orange Killer”): 4000 points
Instant Bonded Warhorse: 250 points
5k silver: 250 points

(All mounts and wearables can be ridden or worn by anyone.)

Ways to accrue points(point values subject to change):

Dying to enemy factioner: 2points
Killing enemy factioner: 10 points
Killing enemy factioner in base: 15 points
Killing an enemy factioner with sigil: 20points
Helping capture a point of bloodshed: 5points
Being in point of bloodshed area: 1point per minute
Capturing a point of bloodshed alone: 10 points
Stealing a sigil from enemy base: 15 points
Stealing a sigil from a townstone: 10 points
Capturing a sigil: 50 points
Statting a red: 25 points
Killing an enemy faction pet: 5points

You will also steal 2%(rounded) of a players points when you kill them meaning the more points someone has, the more of a target they become.

Point modifiers(points you gain are multiplied by the following):

Own N number of sigils: x(1 + N/10)
Owning all sigils: x2
Being in smallest faction: x1.5
Being in largest faction x.5

So if youre in the largest faction, you gain half as many points as other factioners. If youre in the smallest, you gain 1.5x as many points as other factioners.

If you own all the sigils you gain 2x the amount, if you own any sigil you get a .1 bonus per number of sigils owned.

Event Bonuses:

2x chance of drops(frags, rares, etc) for factioners
3x chance of drops for factioners in smallest faction
1.5x chance of drop for factioners in largest faction

Other:

Typing in [factionscore brings up a gump showing a leaderboard of top 100 point getters. It would also be where you exchange your points for other items. You would also be able to give points to another faction player using this interface.

Faction commanders can now remove people from their faction… it takes 1 hour to remove someone. They cannot rejoin this faction for 24 hours.

There will be a killboard of the day showing who killed whom in factions. This will be used by the community to prevent people farming alts.
Also show a global message to all factioners when a factioner kills another factioner.

Do not allow people in multiple factions.
Do not allow people to kill alts or farm points from their friends.

Anyone caught breaking these rules will be permanently removed from factions and will receive a 1 week jail. Second offense is deleted character.
Remove the being in largest Faction bonus and maybe take a look into adding a reduction to being in the largest faction -0.5x and i say we add it today. Are items/mounts going to be faction colored?

I was on a faction character.

The boss was actually outside guard zone.

I was mostly in the company of fellow Minax players during the invasion but I was free to be attacked by any factioner during the event. To add to it I flagged twice during the boss actually. Decrimmed right before the boss died and as CoM rolled in. That's a new detail but it still begs the question...what game are you even playing and can you or can you not read?

There was risk involved. I just managed to avoid it.

Now see the thing is, I wasn't really even benefiting much by being in factions I'm just in it for the occasional silver drop and the 5k pet res. But even that little bit was enough for me to put myself at risk during the entire event.

So you maybe give a little bit more incentive fpr the PvP elements (but not too much), make the scoring count the whole time and who knows maybe more people are doing this.

And fighting each other.

And fighting you.

I'm done.

Peace the fuck out.

I may have worded it wrong but being in the largest faction would give you a reduced rate(less than 1x)

I made a new thread, we can follow the discussion here:

This makes no sense.. Most of the time I used the edit button to change spelling mistakes, grammar issues and other literacy based irrelevance to stop an onslaught of insults regarding educational levels etc etc. You are fully aware of how folks enjoy to pick on posters regarding their knowledge of the English language, I mean Bobby receives a whole range insults regarding his nationality and so have other posters who's first language is not English.

Okay, I can see why it helps weeding out the hasty who intend to deeply insult someone and probably makes it easier to remove repeat offenders but generally, the edit function is not used as some abusive weapon to hide someones disapproval of another. If this is an error regarding implementation of the new forum systems then please, disregard this post and I apologise respectfully. If the reasons are directed more towards a punishment, a method to name and shame posters, then I honestly think that this direction is probably one of the first of its kind I have known regarding forum posting *apart from forums which use the Awaiting Moderation method* and could become a venomous thorn for the future of these forums.

Also, the removal of the edit function disables folks from condensing posts which clutter up the forums, IE I want to make a post about a certain build but after typing over one thousand words, I forget a key area which needs to be added to the original post but instead of just hitting the edit button, I have to type another post in the same thread which ruins the appearance. The same applies to story writers, those creating threads for the enjoyment and entertainment of others need to edit posts to add or remove content.

The same applies to quick posts, folks who have a spare five minutes and wish to make a post regarding something but have limited time. They type what they need, upload the post, go out and do their thing, come back and read what they have written originally and notice errors which need changing or updated.

Again, if this is a mistake then forgive my rant and I am sorry for typing this, if not, i'd think carefully about this direction.

Not to keep this going, but to be fair you can edit the posts that you make. Both the OP and your own replies to your own threads. So for condensing and story writing it's not a big problem for those purposes (unless you're contributing to another) but you do bring up some very good points about language.

I'm not gonna say I haven't made jokes involving someone else's use of the English language. I've made jokes. HOLLY MOLLY THE JOKES ARE REALLLL. But at the same time you have this problem on the internet as a whole, it's not just a UOF thing. If your English isn't just absolutely perfect...people are gonna notice and call attention to it - and they'll likely be people who only speak English.

English is apparently one of the hardest languages to learn if it's not your mother tongue and anyone who speaks multiple languages deserves credit, not condemnation.

....unless of course they are one specific person who litters the forums with nonstop rages. If you're gonna act like that and stick your neck out there 24/7...you're fair game. The mighty Barracoon understands this but it's other members that may see themselves as the target when language usage is being attacked that I'm more concerned about.

And really language aside everybody has a pang of conscience from time to time or realizes after the fact that they made an egregious error that needs to be corrected.

An Corp the edit button pls

This/these JESUS EFFIN

At least you have an excuse, this forum at the moment is like walking through a minefield of Grammar mines. The other strange thing is it doesn't matter if you check your sentences 500 times, somehow, a rogue spelling mistake goes under the radar..

I feel so naked right now...

Is this thread about Incentives for better grammer or for pvp?

Let's stay on topic.

Technically, this is still on topic.. Polite and educated PVP should be the goal. I mean, who else wants to see sentences like "FU N00b, u wnt 2 fite n rl?"
