Eliminate PKs

I've played UO for years and have never had a red character. The main PvP experiences I've had are killing a few thieves and (mostly unsuccessfully) fighting back against a few PKs. I usually try to run or recall away when I spot a PK or get attacked. Despite that, I love playing on a full PvP server. I really do enjoy the thrill of knowing that I'm at risk not just from whatever I'm fighting, but also from unexpected attacks. I'm not going to claim that I'm happy when I get killed, but my experience has been enriched by a close call or by surprising someone that thought I was an easy mark way more often than it has been ruined by griefing. I also enjoy balancing the risks of the most popular farming (and PK spots) with trying out some new spots to lower my risk. If I'm going to be driven from a favorite spot, I'd much rather do it because the PKs come there too often instead of because 15 blues are killing the mobs and looting quicker than I can.

It's easy to say that the GMs ought to do more work to create content, build new dungeons so there are enough farming spots for everyone, keep the game challenging, balance all the different aspects of the game, and keep the economy in check with gold sinks. But it's pretty hard for a small team only funded by the donations from enthusiasts of a 20 year old game to manage all that. Instead, they can save themselves some time by getting some of those things through a mechanic that many people on this server see as the thing that makes UO what it is. This server has gotten big because people like the way it has been set up. Any change has risks and unintended consequences, and the change you are suggesting would be the biggest in the history of UOF.

I understand both sides but really to try and get others to play the way you do welll everyone is different and everyone find's their own fun on UO.

lol what? no one in EQMS gives a fuck about perma stat -- we're not going anywhere(unlike POWER who quit UOF for UOW because you guys claimed EQMS ruined PVP).

What? No one threatned to leave the server over perma stat.

I did ask what would happen if EQMS stopped PKing and turned Anti PK... would they still need perma stat? Its my guessing that they want to add perma stat solely because of EQMS, which is fine by me.

One thing you mention I find particularly interesting. New content doesn't necessarily entail creating vast new dungeons. Simple solutions often work the best. Let me provide an example.

Blue players are disgruntled about getting PK'd. Let's say that we wish to avoid the "nerf and punish" mentality that puts reds in a time out corner. How could new content solve this problem without demanding much from the developers? An easy solution is to simply add high end mobs to more farming locations. Respawn timers could also be reduced to give players a better farming experience. Increasing the number of farming locations means that players can reliably hunt more effectively while also reducing their risk of getting PK'd because reds would have to search many more locations rather than the current handful. This idea would be particularly welcomed by PvM'ers that enjoy MoTM.

Are there any downsides or negative consequences from increasing high end farming spots? If players are allowed to farm continuously then perhaps inflation could rise? I doubt it. It seems like there are high end mobs to farm whenever you like so increasing the number of farming spots only means that reds would have to look harder to find the blues. Wilderness areas provide ample ground for spawn locations. It doesn't have to be tied down to a dungeon.

TLDR:
The "nerf and punish" mentality is trite. There are other solutions. I've mentioned incentivized PvP before as one method. Increasing the number of farming spots is another way to decrease the risks for blues as well just make farming more fun.

Sir I nevered cried about eqms.. I stated a fact that there are many red eqms.. But I am guessing you are fan boy.. Iike I said in a eariler post.. dying isnt the end of the world.. just go restock and go back out.. Along with saying that I loot the eqms I kill because they always return the favor of never resing and always looting, which I really dont mind either.. I also said I enjoy the fact of the zerg and risk that goes along with zerg..

Truthfully I said perma stats loss would make it more thrilling for me as a pk....

You sir are just trying to provoke a argument..

That was a simple statement saying the factions should be player % balanced... But I guess you are having a hard time with your emotions...

Yes your so called statement I call crying because here you are saying "I want factions to be balanced" well guess what even if lets say it dropped to only 60 per faction, Minax would still be dominating the shard. All the other people who play the others factions either quit or threatening to quit so what will happen then............nothing just like before lol.

PKing is game sanctioned griefing. There is no value to it as a play style or to the enjoyment of the game. It is a flaw that was corrected by OSI with the advent of Trammel and every MMO since. Let me explain...

No need to explain, your rationale of thinking that was a good thing speaks for itself. This is a Felucca server. There will be PKs. Done deal.
